A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF MARQUETTE, KANSAS, FROM THE PROVISIONS OF RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF MARQUETTE, KANSAS:

SECTION 1. The City of Marquette, Kansas, by the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas hereby elects to and does exempt itself and make inapplicable to it the provisions of K.S.A. 15-1602 which applies to this city but is part of an enactment which does not apply uniformly to all cities.

SECTION 2. In general, city officers (other than city attorneys and municipal judges) must live within a 15 mile radius of the City of Marquette. Any officer outside of this distance will have one year from time of employment to move within the required radius. Any current city officer that moves outside of the radius will have one year to move back within the radius.
